Destination Details

Best Time to visit:

Peak Season from September to March when the climate is cool and comfortable and the best time to visit for a holiday in Kerala. Off season in Kerala which is the hot, humid summer season from April to May. Monsoon Season from June to August suitable for Ayurveda with rains intermittently.

Things to buy:

Tea and Coffee is an important part of shopping in Kerala at Munnar. The Nilgiri Tea grown in various parts of Kerala and Kerala Kapi & Monsooned Malabar Coffee are rich in aroma, taste, and color. Kerala is also famous for Banana Chips, Cashew Nuts, Aroma Oils and handicrafts.

What to do:

Kerala's distinctive culture and extremely picturesque setting which contrasts with the fast-paced modern world makes it an indulgent place to go to relax. A trip to Kerala is not complete without experiencing the Kerala backwaters. It's a tranquil endeavor, for sure, one that can be part of a memorable romantic getaway. Many Ayurvedic Spas and resorts are located in Kerala due to its warm climate and the abundant supply of medicinal plants. Kathakali is a very unusual and ancient form of dance-drama that's traditional to Kerala. And you won't get to see performers dressed up like this every day!. Kalaripayattu is an ancient martial art form practiced in Kerala. Every year during the monsoon season Kerala comes alive with colorful snake boat races. Tea and coffee tasting is a must. Toddy, or palm wine, Kerala's indigenous alcoholic drink, is made from the sap of palm trees.

Malayalam, Tamil and English.

Kerala is home to numerous lip-smacking dishes prepared out of seafood, some of which include mussels, crab, tiger prawns, king prawns, tiny prawns, oysters, sardines, mackerel, tuna and gorgeous red lobsters. Do not miss Puttu and Kadala Curry, Appam with Stew, Idiyappam, Nadan Kozhi Varuthathu (Spicy Chicken Fry), Kerala Prawn Curry, Malabar Parota, Kerala Style Fish Molee. Kerala has, contrary to popular belief, a massive array of options for anyone who wishes to partake in purely vegetarian cuisine. From Vegetable Stew to Beetroot Thoran to Mushroom Pepper Fry. One must try Palada Payasam.
